Getting To Know Astrid Giffon
What’s something you are proud of as part of the SAHARA Sales Team?
As a member of the SAHARA Sales Team, I am proud of the initiative we take, our attitude, and our resourcefulness. As a community, Las Vegas has endured many challenges during this time. We were able to take advantage of each other’s strengths, taking a grassroots approach at delivering information and connecting with our clients, and working with our Convention and Visitors Authority to build a stronger and more strategic partnership.
Are you a sports fan? Who are your favorite teams?
Uuhhh, Yeah! Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees (I know, you have questions…It’s too long of a story, but I’ll buy you a cold one if you’re interested in hearing it).
***I also support the Arizona Coyotes as well as our VGK and Vegas Raiders (root, root for the home teams).
What motivates you at work?
It’s all about alignment. I believe in our company’s core values, our ownership team’s commitment to our success, and the role I play in it all. We’re a family and you show up for the family! Also, I am extremely competitive and I don’t have a “no/can’t” kind of attitude.
If you could give a piece of advice to someone just starting their career in sales, what would it be?
More often than not, people glorify corporate sales positions thinking they will live out a scene from 1992’s Glengarry Glen Ross and hear someone say “put that coffee down”. There’s more to sales than a catchphrase. It’s important for those interested in a career in sales, to be honest, and ethical, develop good listening skills, be passionate, and have the desire/drive to succeed. Also, learning early on to not sweat the small stuff and to not take objections personally is key. It’s a necessary skill set to be open and receptive to growth and development at every phase of your career.
